    Maritime Technology and Training Center

    Texas' First Associate Degree Maritime Transportation Program is located just outside of Houston, the San Jacinto College Maritime Program offers maritime training and deck-level coursework for all professional mariners. We cover everything from entry-level deckhands on an inland towboat to Unlimited Tonnage Masters on the world's largest ships. Our courses are United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved and Standards for Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) compliant.

    LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, & Technology (CPET)

    San Jacinto College has served as the training leader for the petrochemical, energy and technology workforce in the greater Houston area for more than 40 years. With four campuses located throughout East Harris County, the College serves as a training hub to the largest petrochemical manufacturing complex in the United States, and second largest in the world with 90 industries and 130 plants. The College plays a vital role in helping the region become the “Energy Capital of the World.”

    University of Houston - Clear Lake at Pearland

    University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland has been strengthening the educational landscape of the greater Pearland area since 2010. Located just off Pearland Parkway a few miles south of Beltway 8, UH-Clear Lake at Pearland offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in areas such as education, psychology and counseling. Undergraduates with more than 45 credit hours can complete their bachelor's degrees in eight programs, while graduate students can receive their master's degrees in six programs.

    Additionally, the Center for Workplace Consulting (CWC) in provides quality, inclusive business solutions through ethical, collaborative, evidence-based practices. The CWC is facilitated by the faculty and students in the University of Houston-Clear Lake Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology master's program. Our expert faculty consultants work closely together with student consultants to offer business solutions to improve organizational success. Student consultants within the CWC collaborate to create custom solutions meeting our clients' needs with strong statistical methods, adherence to ethical guidelines, and use of evidence-based practices.     With degree options that include business, behavioral science, education and the RN to BSN degree, UHCL at Pearland offers a great educational opportunity for those living in the growing Pearland area and adjoining communities, including students at other campuses. Since 2017, UHCL at Pearland has hosted Alvin Community College core classes, which are transferrable to UHCL. Beginning in Fall 2018, students in UHCL's Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program have been able to take classes at UHCL at Pearland.

    University of Houston - Clear Lake at Pearland

    Skills Development Fund

    The Skills Development Fund is an innovative program created to assist Texas public community and technical colleges in financing customized job training for their local businesses. The fund is administered by the Texas Workforce Commission. Grants are provided to help companies and labor unions form partnerships with local community colleges and technical schools to provide custom job training. Average training benefits are $1,000 per trainee. However, the benefit may vary depending on the proposal. The maximum award amount is $500,000.     PEDC staff will work with your company to draft the application for these training funds, and with State of Texas officials overseeing the evaluation and awarding of the funds. PEDC will also assist in maximizing existing training programs present in our region’s three primary community colleges: Alvin Community College, Houston Community College and San Jacinto Community College.


    BizConnect

    BizConnect was established in 2003, with their primary goal to help businesses expand and create jobs in Pearland. Through the BizConnect program, you have access to a network of strong professionals willing to help you with any need your business may have. 

    The Business Retention and Expansion Team consists of representatives from the Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) and the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. Together, we work toward establishing relationships with business and industry by visiting and sharing available resources while addressing issues or needs businesses may have.
